| Regarding | the killing of the Philistine hero GOLIATH (descended from the refugee-giants of Kiriat Arba/Hebron) by teenage young DAVID with a slingshot (c.1024 BC/BCE): the stone of a slingshot could travel at 100 metres per second, whereas an arrow from the much later developed medieval longbow only attained a speed of 60 mps (source: Kriwaczek 2010:92).

1004 | King DAVID unites Israel politically and conquers Jebusite Jerusalem (the city of Melchizedek in Abraham's time, to which young David had taken Goliath's head). Although God-honouring in terms of the holy covenant and more, DAVID's political kingdom is not racially Jewish for his elite bodyguard are Philistines (Cherethites and Pelethites, see Zeph.2:5) and a leading general in his army is a Hittite (Uriah). • ZADOK (a Jebusite name, probably via his mother) and ABIATHAR are both high priests of Israel. (2 Kings 20:25). |

| Note | that King DAVID purchases the site for the temple in Jerusalem from ORNAN the Jebusite (implying that when David had conquered their city there had been no plunder and destruction of the resident Jebusites). Although denied being builder of Israel's temple because its city Jeru-salem was not at peace (Salem) during his wars, as its name asserts, DAVID is inspired by God to design the Temple and the order of its services to permanently replace the Tabernacle of Moses (1 Chron.28:11-19). Accordingly, during his reign he accumulates for its construction – c.100 metric tons of pure gold, c.240 metric tons of pure silver, plus large quantities of bronze, iron, wood, and precious stones (1 Chron.29) from his war plunder.
