A Biblical Structure of History
— HISTORY'S DAY IN ITS TWENTY-FOUR REVEALED PARTS — |
![]() |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This rough sketch of the structure of history is drafted to give a sense of the sequence and inter-relationship of significant events, both past and future, according to the Bible's awesome perspective on those events. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| . . . A | All those who believe are chosen/recognised by God before the creation of all things as being His “in Christ” (Ephesians 1:4; Revelation 13:8); | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| . . . B | Christ steps down (limits Himself) from His eternal Infinity in God (John 17:5; Philippians 2:6), becomes finite – thereby beginning time and space . . . | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
(This is the ontological-effect of Christ's self-limitation within God for the duration and purpose of this revealed history) |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| — THE LOVE OF THE CREATOR ♥ IS THE HEART OF HISTORY — | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. | The Beginning | Christ creates the Universe (Cosmogenesis/Singularity/'Big Bang'), with its angelic administrative management structure in place. | Gen.1:1; Dan.4:17; Jn.1:3; Col.1:16-17. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
“[Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation [having primacy in creation as the first finite Being].
For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Col.1:15-17). |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2. | The Rebellion | In the structured ranks of God's angelic administration, Śâṭân leads a rebellion, believing that God's moral character made Him vulnerable to structure-based authority. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Job 1:6-7; Revelation 12:9. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3. | Planet Prepared | The Six Days of Special Creation by Christ. | Genesis 1:3-31. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
"Then God said, |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
God could have created all things instantly!
But instead – His own Six-Day-work, leading to a rest-Day, presents God Himself as the basic role-model for all human behaviour – |
Note: Exodus 20:9-11. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| for humanity is here designed to represent Him in all things and therefore is given dominion. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This human | representative-authority is now set for its practical test in Eden's special head-water garden environment. | Genesis 2. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4. | First Lesson Failure | The Eden lesson is aborted by human failure; so life is re-ordered... |
Genesis 3. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Multiplication, corruption, intrusion and subsequent mutation of humanity...
|
Genesis 4-6:7. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Noah is | warned that judgment will come in 120 years because God will no longer 'shield' humanity, and therefore he is instructed to prepare a three-story pitch-covered floating barge to preserve his family, and both wild and domesticated animals and birds: two of each inedible (unclean) specie and seven of each edible (clean) specie. |
Genesis 6:3-22. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 5. | World Judgment | Methuselah, son of prophet Enoch, dies and the Flood comes. Noah and his family live 370 days in their floating zoo. |
Genesis 6-8. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| See: Probable Cause/Mechanism of the Flood | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 6. | New World Order | Changes to human diet in consequence of the climatic change as secondary-effect of the cause of the Flood, with its natural consequence for human longevity; a change to administration of justice for the new society; and the Creator's covenant-of-preservation primise to four categories of earth-life: human, domesticated animal, wild animal, and bird life (these are represented in the symbolic appearance of the four guardian-cherubs around the Throne). |
Genesis 9 Ezekiel 1:10; Revelation 4:7. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 7. | The Dispersion | Human society is fractured to induce dependence on their Creator (Acts 17:27), and so spreads world-wide from southern Mesopotamia/Iraq. |
Genesis 11:9; Acts 17:26-27.
| The family of Heber (Eber) becomes a distinct racial group at this time (after the birth of Peleg) and later known as Hebrews. | Genesis 10:21, 25. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 8. | The Abraham Adventure | Abram's initial faith response in Ur of Chaldea, to migrate to the unknown, stops at Haran until his father dies. |
Genesis 15:5-6. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
In Palestine Abraham's faith comes to maturity, he meets Jesus (Jn.8:56), with two angels en-route to Sodom, and receives promises. |
Genesis 17-25. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 9. | Egypt as National Womb | To Jacob, God says: "fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of you a great nation". |
Genesis 46:3. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
430 years pass 'to the day' |
Exodus 12:40, 41; Galatians 3:17.
| 10. | The Exodus | After God's judgment on 18th dynasty Egypt, Israel marches from miracle to miracle through the desert to meet with God at Mount Sinai. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Conflict with Amalek and Gentile priest Jethro blesses and advises. | Exodus 17, 18. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 11. | Nation Born in Covenant | God's conditional Covenant with Israel at Sinai; Tabernacle construction; and the beginning of Holy Scripture (Romans 3:2). |
Exodus – Deuteronomy | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Israel is led through the wilderness by Hobab the Gentile brother-in-law of Moses (Num.10:31),
followed by thirty-eight-year delay for their unbelief at Kadesh (Num.14) until all adults who left Egypt are dead except Joshua and Caleb. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 12. | A Land Possessed | Joshua leads Israel into Palestine and subdues its Amorite cities. |
Joshua | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tribal judges; prophet-priest Samuel; and Israel's first monarchy... |
Judges, 1 & 2 Samuel |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 13. | Israel's Kingdom | God's dynastic covenant with David and the Jerusalem Temple construction under Solomon, both of whom write God's word. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Solomon's unfaithfulness divides Israel after his death, into two political entities (northern House of Israel, southern House of Judah) |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Prophets to each kingdom continue their witness and write God's Word concerning it, until...
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 14. | The Time of the Nations: | Gentile domination of the nation Israel begins
Presented to Daniel in Babylon as a succession of – • four metals in a human image in contrast to God's rule as a rock mountain (2:44,45); • four animals in contrast to God's rule as a human being (7:13,18). |
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. | Babylonian Rule | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| • as the 'head of gold' of Nebuchadnezzar's Dream Image, Dan.2:32, 38; • as a 'lion with wings of an eagle', wings plucked off and made to stand 'as a man', Dan.7:4 (Nebuchadnezzar's conversion, Dan.4); • Dictatorial form of government, Dan.5:19. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2. | Medo-Persian Rule | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| • as the two 'arms of silver' of the Dream Image, Dan.2:32; • as a 'bear raised on one side', Dan.7:5; • as a 'ram charging' with 'two horns, both high, one higher than the other' Dan.8:3-4. • Legislative form of government, Dan.6:8, 12, 15. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3. | Hellenistic / Macedonian Rule | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| • as the 'loins of bronze' of the Dream Image, Dan.2:39; • as a 'leopard with four wings of a bird on its back' Dan.7:6 (4 wings are four leading generals, among whom the kingdom is eventually divided, and Israel eventually suffers under its Damascus-based dynasty of General Seleucus); • as a 'male goat' with a 'conspicuous horn between his eyes' (Alexander the Great), broken and replaced by 'four conspicuous horns' (his 4 generals) followed by a 'little horn' from one [Seleucus in Syria] (Dan.8:4-14; see note to the right); • Democratic form of government by registered citizenry at city level (the Athenian model). |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4. | Roman Rule | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The End Time Begins | • as the 'legs of iron' of the Dream Image, Dan.2:40; • as a hybrid 'fourth animal, terrifying, dreadful and exceeding strong', Dan.7:7. • Combining all three types of government (dictatorial in Caesar, legislative in Senate, democratic in the Tribunes). |

The Lord Jesus Christ said:
1. "For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John [the Baptizer], and
if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear." (Matt.11:13-15). 2. "...if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God [His reign/authority] has come upon you." (Matt.12:28). In Christ therefore this kingdom/authority of the God of Heaven has become 'near' (ηγγικεν); beginning now –
• from His anointing by the Spirit at His baptism... • until 'Messiah is cut off' (Dan.9:26) 3½ years later ('in the midst of the seven' Dan.9:27) with His unique Four Jerusalem Works, namely –

| Regarding Israel, Jesus had said: |
|
Luke 21:20-27. 1Not 'fulfilled' in 1948 AD! |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Previously hidden time begins |
|
The Presence of the Future now continues in Christ's Church |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 16. |
The Mission Begins
Pentecost AD 30 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Holy Spirit's Kingdom-presence in Christ now continues in those to whom His Spirit has been given by grace, no less than in Christ's own human-relationship to the Spirit of God. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "In Him [Christ] you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit." | Ephesians 2:22 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| See: Terminal Sequence. |

Ephesians.4:13. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 17. | Mission Completed |
Matthew 24:14. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Previously hidden time now | ends! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 18. | Antichrist Takes Power | 'Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false...' | 2 Thessalonians 2:11. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| [Not 'ante-Christ'; he is not a false Christ! He is 'anti' because he is against Christ] |
It speaks as a lion (dictatorial), moves as a bear (legislative), looks like a leopard (democratic). | Revelation 13:2.
| 19. | The Final Witness (See the 'Elijah Sign') Israel shattered but preserved! |
*Now the spiritually-mature witness of Christ's Church begins authoritatively as testimony against the rule of Antichrist for 3½ years ('time, times, half-a-time' / '42 months' / '1260 days') represented symbolically in the Revelation as the 'Two Witnesses' (for the Prosecution).
|
Revelation 11; Daniel 12:1,7. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This unique time | is the time of the greatest suffering of Christ's Church for her now to share in Christ's own baptism-of-suffering.
[Remember that at the time of His Ascension these words were spoken to Christ by the Father – "The LORD says to my Lord: 'Sit at My right hand, UNTIL I make Your enemies Your footstool'." (Psalm 110:1)] |
Mark 10:39; Revelation 12:17; Matt.22:44.
"...twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying –
'We give thanks to You, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, for You have taken Your great power and begun to reign. The nations raged, but Your wrath came, and the time for the dead to be judged, and for rewarding Your servants, the prophets and saints, and those who fear Your name, both small and great, and for destroying the destroyers of the earth'.'" |
Revelation 11:16-18. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 20. | CHRIST COMES: The resurrection of the dead and transformation of the living – of ALL the redeemed from ALL ages – to share Christ's glorious rule! | Rom.8:19; Dan.12:3; Rev.20:6. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "...may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints" |
1 Thess.3:12-13. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "On that day His feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. ...Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with Him. " |
Zechariah 14:4-5. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| [At that moment, the attacking forces of Gog are instantly destroyed (Zech.14:12) upon the mountains of Israel, and their scattered bones left for burial (Ez.39). The old is destroyed to make room for the new, in transition to which the 'lion', 'bear', and 'leopard' forms-of-government fill the immediate world-wide political vacuum left after Antichrist's hybrid rule is destroyed (Dan.7:12).] |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 21. | New World Order | The Messianic Kingdom/Reign of the Christ: Jerusalem, as the seat of Christ's rule (in honour of Melchizedek), receives representatives of all peoples annually until the knowledge of the Lord covers the earth 'as the waters cover the sea'.
The time of the restoration of all things "...the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind... No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days, for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed..." |
Zechariah 14:16-19; Isaiah 11:9-10; Habakkuk 2:13-14. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Isaiah 65:17-25; Romans 8:21. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 22. | World Fails Its Final Test | World attack begins on a faithful Jerusalem: | Ezekiel 38, 39; Revelation 20:8-9. |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Armies of Gog are destroyed by the fire of God in their renewal of the old human rebellion. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 23. | The Final Judgment | :: Christ's Great White Throne Judgment :: | Revelation 20:11. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
| THEN |

| Note: These two verses run parallel concerning the same act of Jesus |

— HEAVEN NOW CLOSES DOWN BY THE RELOCATION OF THE THRONE OF GOD — |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 24. | A New Earth | "Behold, I am making all things new". (Rev.21:5). Hallelujah! Amen! |
Revelation 21:1-3. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
The 'Throne [singular] of God and the Lamb' (Rev.22:3) is now located inside the 'New Jerusalem' (the Bride of Christ/His Church)
with no temple in this City (Rev.21:22) for this cubic-City is the ultimate 'Holy of Holies'/the Presence of God, fulfilling all that went before; and thus the divine-sonship of Jesus Christ now ends (1 Cor.15:28) for Him to be again as He was before all things began (Jn.17:5). |
Hallelujah! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
