'Hagee Heresy' is written as a response to Hagee's public teaching, as stated in his misleading book –

the above book by John Hagee contains a large number of biblical and historical inaccuracies, only the more important errors and misdirection of God's people will be highlighted here.

It is typical in the history of Christianity that, if erroneous teaching on an issue fails to deceive God's people, its opposite is then used for the same corrupting purpose. Here, Hagee, correcting the error of 'Replacement Theology' (that the Church takes the place of Israel in God's plan for history), leads us into its opposite-counterpart deception – that the Old Covenant of God with Israel still continues today at the same time as the New Covenant in Christ. I list the following to illustrate the depth of his perversions.

The Jews are the 'brothers' of Christ by race whom He referred to in the following Scripture, and so the treatment of the Jews is the criterion by which God will judge humanity. (Page 7).

In these words Jesus is describing His future judgment when he "comes in His glory", which will divide the 'sheep' on His right from the 'goats' on His left; a judgment which determines their eternal destiny –

Hagee is making a very serious statement concerning an individual's eternal destiny. But then he shows his error.

With an impression of scholarship, John Hagee states –

αδελφων μου (adelphon mou) means 'My brothers', and the Lord Jesus had already publicly explained exactly what He meant when He applied this term to Himself, so Hagee is without excuse –

could not be clearer, and it is recorded for our instruction!

Even Mary, Christ's own mother, did not qualify as a relative of His unless she was living in obedient faith toward God. There is absolutely no racial preference or bias toward the Jews in Christ's teaching in Matthew 25 concerning the criterion for His coming judgment! Mr Hagee has used Holy Scripture (or us being used) to try and deceive God's people.

Israel's declaration of political independence at 4 PM on Friday May 14, 1948, fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy of a nation born in a day and is an 'unmistakable milestone on the prophetic timetable'. (Page 11).

Hagee quotes from Isaiah Chapter 66:8 to prove this, which says –

What Hagee chooses to ignore is that the event here described in this text is wrapped in descriptions of God's intervention in supernatural judgment upon unbelievers.

Before Hagee's select quote, verse 6 of this passage says –

"The sound of the Lord rendering recompense to His enemies",

and again after Hagee's quote, verse 15 says –

Is this really God's description of the May 1948 event? We need to treat the Word of God with more respect than to bend it to fit ideological purposes.

This supernatural judgment is exactly what is described elsewhere in Israel's prophets as the time of the coming of the Lord, when Israel will look upon Him whom they pierced and mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child (Zech.12:10), and His feet will stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives as He opens a valley through it for the escape of Israel's remnant from the assault of Armageddon (Zech.14:4-5).

Zechariah prophesied these words of God in confirmation of Isaiah –

That day is Christ's return which is associated with Israel's national repentance and therefore with their restoration, for there is no restoration without repentance – if we believe the Bible, rather than use it to deceive.

The New Testament confirms the Old as to the timing of Israel's prophesied spiritual-rebirth as a nation, that it will happen only when Christ returns in judgment. The Bible says –

The Western Wall of 'Temple Mount', the holiest place in Judaism and dating from 516 BC, is the only remnant of the second temple. (Page 12).

So, for about 1,300-years the place of public prayer for Jewish pilgrims at Jerusalem had been the Mount of Olives – until a false Messiah arrived!

For Hagee therefore to regard the Western Wall today as an original sacred place (which of course justifies Israel's demolishing of Palestinian Arab homes built in this area for centuries, with only three-hours-notice to move their belongings) is beyond ignorance. It shows a callous disregard for the affections of God who so loved the world, the whole world, that He gave His only Son!

The woman's haemorrhage-healing by Jesus was because she had touched the tassels (tzitzit) of His Jewish prayer shawl (tallit) and so fulfilled Malachi 4:2. (Page 37).

Malachi's words from God read –

"But unto you that fear My name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings [rays];
and ye shall go forth, and gambol as calves of the stall."

The Hebrew word translated 'wings' is kânâph (כּנף) literally means 'extension' or 'wing' as of a bird or an army and not tzitz, the tassel of a tallit. This promise of God uses the image of warming rays of the sun as a symbol of His blessing, and so, just as gambolling calves, freed from their stall, jump and run with delight in the morning light, so His grace is toward those who fear Him. Here there is no Jewish touching-ritual to connect to God implied in any sense whatsoever. Nor will the Lord Jesus be wearing a Jewish prayer-shawl when He returns, as Hagee has said elsewhere!

The Lord Jesus had a pertinent comment about religious reverence for the tassel or fringe of the Jewish prayer shawl in His time. He condemned this religious preoccupation with –

"They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes [tassels] long..."

both practices based on ignoring the context of God's instruction to Moses and used as a tradition of religious self-interest.

Matthew's Gospel, written specifically to emphasise the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy in Jesus, reports to us concerning this weak woman bleeding for twelve years, that –

"...she said to herself, 'If I only touch His garment, I will be made well'."

The word is ιματιου αυτου (imatiou autou) meaning His garment and only His garment, sometimes translated as His robe or clothes. It carries no significance at all of wanting to touch some special tassel-part of a prayer-shawl because of its symbolic association with the Torah in Jewish religious tradition. None whatsoever!

The term 'occupied territory' concerning Palestinian land is propaganda, for Palestinian Arab's have no claim at all, only Israel has a right. (Page 55).

Hagee also writes "Just as Jews came to Palestine before 1948, many Palestinian Arabs were also immigrants from Egypt, Syria, and Iraq, who were searching for a better life under British rule", thus adding to his compendium of half-truths which amount to lies in their continuing misrepresentation.

September 16, 1948, the UN Security Council mediator Count Bernadotte (highly regarded for having saved some 20,000 from German concentration camps) files an eye-witness report on Palestine describing –

Hagee today perpetuates the propaganda of Golda Meir – "There is no such thing as a Palestinian people... It is not as if we came and threw them out and took their country. They didn't exist" (June 15, 1953).

• Political declarations does not create a nation, people do!
• 'Palestinian' is not a political definition. It is a definition of a people who are not economic migrants to the land, but have lived in it in unbroken succession since the 7th century AD Arab invasion, from when it was ruled by the Byzantine empire.

On August 20, 636 AD, the Muslims defeated the Byzantine army at Yarmuk, and with the help of the Jews the Muslims begin to subjugate the rest of the country.

In February 638 AD, after the Islamic conquest of Jerusalem by Arabian 'Umar I (Caliph Omar Ben Hatav), there is no killing or destruction of property or religious symbols, no expropriations or attempt to force the inhabitants to convert to Islam. While initially confirming Christian Bishop Sophronius' ban on Jews, 'UMAR later invites seventy Jewish families from Tiberius to settle in Jerusalem near the pool of Siloam, and the Jews are allowed to build a synagogue.

History simply does not support Hagee's story of the Palestinian Arabs being recent economic migrants. He has willingly swallowed deceptive propaganda and has become an international vehicle for it, to the damaging of Christian missions in Muslim lands.

In 1975, Professor Israel Shahak published a list of 385 Palestinian villages (out of a total of 475 existing in 1948, that is more than 81%) which were destroyed by Jewish bulldozers.

He reports that this was done –

This has hugely contributed to the Middle East's Palestinian refugee problem and its provocations today, which feed terrorist acts.

Deceptive Zionist propaganda in this regard has never ceased and John Hagee has become an effective agent for it. That is his personal choice, but when he publicly misleads God's people in God's name, every Christian has a responsibility to publicly denounce it, or share his guilt!

This is one of the worst of Hagee's many deceptions. He quotes from Psalm 89 concerning God's dynastic covenant with David to establish his royal throne forever and pretends that this refers to the national covenant with Israel. Confusing one covenant with another is a subtle ploy to deceive those who do not know Holy Scripture. Hagee quotes God's words –

"...My covenant will I not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips [through Nathan]. Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before Me; it [David's dynasty] shall be established forever like the moon, even like the faithful witness in the sky."

God's dynastic covenant with David was delivered to him by the prophet Nathan as described in 1 Chronicles 17:3-15. It is a promise of God to David that –

It is not hard to be aware that the Davidic throne exists no longer in the politics of the State of Israel. God's promise to David did not fail. The very first Gospel of the New Testament gives us the official genealogy of Jesus, by which He, as the wise men from the East certainly understood, was born (into David's line) to be king – forever.

"Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him."

And worship Him they did, for God's covenant with David lives on forever in his greatest descendant, the Messiah of Israel, which He is presented as such in this first Gospel, in contradiction of another teaching of Hagee, that Jesus did not come to be Israel's Messiah because He came to die.

Word of God reminds us concerning the New Covenant in Christ Jesus that –

"In speaking of a new covenant, He makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away."

This Word is not speaking of the Old Testament Scriptures, or of God's promise to Abraham of an eventual inheritance of Palestine when Israel submits to their Messiah. It is speaking of Israel's Sinai Covenant mediated by Moses to the nation and sealed by the blood of sprinkling upon the Jewish people. This ended.

"Then [Moses] took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people.
And they said, 'All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.'
And Moses took the blood and threw it on the people and said,
'Behold the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words'."

That covenant of law completely ended in the blood atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, even if it took time for this to be digested by His own disciples.

In God's sight today that Old Covenant does not exist. Even if Israel builds ten temples in Jerusalem and pretends it has found the holy ark of their covenant (See Jeremiah 3:16), it does not exist!

also important ethically to remember that any money given to John Hagee ministries is used, among other, to help build Jewish settlements on Palestinian land such as in the Negev to dispossess the Bedouin who have lived there for centuries. This crude racism is morally unacceptable among non-Christians. To then present this as a 'Christian' action is a blasphemous insult against the essential character of Christianity.

There are many other errors propagated by Hagee in his unconditional support for the (Jewish) State of Israel: such as

but the above is enough to help prevent the corruption of God's Word concerning Israel for those who care.

But the house of Hagee shall not stand!

As much as Jesus taught that a house built on sand does not stand when the storms come (Matt.7:27), the house of Hagee will fall, but not when the storms of testing come. It is built upon sinking sand, and will be destroyed by the weight of its own ideological bias.
