Bethel-First Baptist developed from a merger of the First Baptist Church of Prince Rupert, begun in 1908, and Bethel Baptist Church of Prince Rupert, founded by German-speaking refugees from war-torn Europe. With the loss of German as first language the two Baptist bodies of believers combined their resources in July 1972 and relocated to 1433 India Avenue, dedicating their new building in May 1973.

Prince Rupert
Today, Prince Rupert is the transportation hub of British Columbia's north coast and, as its tourist brochures say, known for its spectacular natural setting, rich cultural heritage, leading-edge technology and superior transportation infrastructure. Our city is on the Alaska Cruise Route, the Coastal flyway, Via Rail's Skeena Express, and Western Terminus of the Yellowhead Highway (Route 16) that links the Pacific coast and Queen Charlotte Islands (Haida Gwai) with Winnipeg, through the Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba provinces to the east.
As a church of Prince Rupert and its district, our commitment is to you:
to encourage and build your confidence in the glorious purposes of God in your life and in the life of your family, accepting challenges as opportunities for growth. ... So ... ... Bring the whole family!
